With Primera Mirada - the work-in-progress section of the International Film Festival of Panama - IFF Panama reaffirms its commitment to strengthen the region’s cinematic industry and become a platform for the internationalization of Central American and Caribbean films.
For the fifth consecutive year, the festival’s Industry Program will grant a cash prize of USD$15,000, awarded by the Inter-American Development Bank, to support the post production of the chosen film. IFF Panama will also take the winner to the largest film market, Marché Du Film at Cannes.
“Primera Mirada is a unique fund for filmmakers from Central America and the Caribbean, whose movies showcase the region and their identity, an industry that also drives the economy forward. Thanks to the support of the Inter-American Development Bank, from Panama we can propel these movies in their final stages of production and help them find an audience, through their exposure at the Cannes film market”, said Pituka Ortega Heilbron, Executive Director of IFF Panama.
The participants of Primera Mirada also benefit from the guidance of the jury and the senior industry professionals who attend the screenings.
