After the success of the pilot edition, we celebrated the second call of the Panama-Locarno Industry Academy International, an initiative organized by the Panama International Film Festival and the Locarno Festival.

The objective of this workshop, which will take place from March 29 to April 1 in the framework of the ninth edition of IFF Panama is to help young industry professionals focused on sales, marketing, online and traditional distribution, exhibition and programming, to understand the challenges of the independent film industry within the Central American, Latin American and international scene.

Panama-Locarno Industry Academy International will offer a group of 8 participants from Panama, Central America and the rest of Latin America, the opportunity to meet with international speakers, tutors and guests, as well as thoroughly enjoy the experience of IFF Panama, covering accommodation, lunches, and accreditation of the festival.

The Industry Academy, which was first held at the Locarno Festival in 2014, is a program for young professionals working in the different fields already mentioned and has been created to help them position themselves in the film industry and to allow them to interact directly with the professionals of the regional and international sector and the key actors.

The program also acts as a shortcut for a generation that enters the independent film industry, encouraging its progress, helping to understand the challenges better and expand its network of contacts, and also seeks to build bridges between different markets in Europe, America North and Latin America.

The call to apply to Panama-Locarno Industry Academy International 2020 opens from January 27 to February 19 for young professionals who work with an established company, or who have significant experience in previously fields mentioned above.

To apply, the following documents are needed:

  • Entry form
    • CV
    • Letter of the reason (in English and Spanish)

The call will remain open until February 19.

The selected participants will be announced on March 2.
