Federico Veiroj, born in 1976, is a director, writer and producer from Uruguay and Spain. His first feature film, ACNE, premiered at Cannes 2008 and received several international awards, including best director at Festival de Santiago de Chile and best film at the Los Angeles Latino Film Festival, and it was also nominated for the best Ibero-American film at the Goya Awards.
A useful life, premiered at the Toronto Film Festival 2010, won prizes in Havana, Turkey and Warsaw. The Apostate, his third feature film, was a Spanish / French production, premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and the Official Competition at the San Sebastian International Film Festival, where he received the Special Mention of the Jury and the FIPRESCI award. Retrospectives of his work have been shown at the Vienna Film Festival, the Harvard Film Archive in 2016; and the Swedish Film Institute in 2017. Currently, Veiroj is in the post-production of the film Thus spoke the money broker, produced by Oriental Films-Uruguay, Rizoma Films -Argentina and Pandora Films -Germany.
