Neto Villalobos was born in San José, Costa Rica. He studied Sociology in Costa Rica and later Cinematographic Direction in Barcelona.
After writing his second feature film, "Cascos Indomables", at the Residencia de la Cinéfondation de Cannes, it premieres at the Toronto International Film Festival where he also premiered his debut feature, "Por las Plumas".
His last short film "El Gran Líbano" is part of the Lebanon Factory and inaugurates the Directors' Fortnight of the 70th edition of the Cannes Film Festival. He has also made several video clips and participated in spaces and workshops such as Berlinale Talent Campus in Berlin, Locarno Filmmakers Academy, BrLab, Rotterdam Lab, and "How a story is told" given by Gabriel García Márquez.
He is currently developing his next fiction project in collaboration with the Costa Rican writer Diego Van Der Laat.
