Cindy Shank, in the early 2000s, lived with her boyfriend at the time, who trafficked drugs in Michigan. Her boyfriend was murdered and the police questioned her about the criminal activity in the house they shared. No charges were filed against her. Five years later, after Shank settled down and started a family, the police knocked on his door. And even though she never sold drugs, she was convicted and sentenced to 15 years for conspiracy and possession, shortly after giving birth to her third and youngest daughter. This led to the loss of their marriage and the deprivation of their children's growth. His brother, Rudy Valdés, is the director of the film, The Sentence.
