The Panama-Locarno Industry Academy International is a new initiative organized by DICINE, the International Film Festival of Panama and the Locarno Festival. This pilot edition will be held within the framework of IFF Panama’s Eighth Edition.

The Panama-Locarno Industry Academy International aims at helping young industry professionals in sales, marketing, online and traditional distribution, exhibition and programming, to understand the challenges of the independent movie industry within the Central-american, Latin-american and the International scene.

The 2019 Panama-Locarno Industry Academy International will take place from April 7th to 10th. It will offer a group of 8 participants from Panama, Central America and the rest of Latin America, the chance to meet with International guest-speakers and tutors, as well as fully enjoying the IFF Panama experience. The Panama-Locarno Industry Academy International covers accommodation, lunches, and a festival accreditation. 

The Industry Academy, launched for the first time at the Locarno Festival in 2014, is a program for young professionals working in the fields of international sales, marketing, distribution, exhibition and programming (festival, cine-club, museum, cinematheque). It has been created in order to help them to position themselves in the industry, and also to allow them to directly interact with regional and international industry professionals and key players. The Industry Academy acts as a shortcut for a new generation of professionals entering the independent film industry, encouraging their progress, helping them to get a better understanding of the Industry’s challenges and broaden their network of contacts. The aim of the Locarno Industry Academies International is also to build bridge across different markets in Europe, North and Latin America. 

The Call for Entries for the 2019 Panama-Locarno Industry Academy International opens February 8th until March 1st for young professional interested in improving their skills and network of contacts in the fields of sales, marketing, distribution, exhibition and programming / curating, preferably already working with an established company, or having a significant experience in the above-mentioned fields. 

IMPORTANT: Even if the majority of sessions will be held in Spanish, a very good level of English (spoken and written) is required.
